about

It was on March 23rd, 2012. Just 4 days earlier, Projeto B had arrived at Seattle-Tacoma airport for a fruitful week at the Cornish College of the Arts culminating in this stupendous and previously unreleased concert.

Live in Seattle should be considered as the apex of a very singular season. Yvo Ursini [guitar, compositions and arrangements], Leonardo Muniz Corrêa [alto e tenor saxes, clarinet, compositions and arrangements], Amilcar Rodrigues [Trumpet], Henrique Alves [electric bass], Mauricio Caetano [drums] e Vicente Falek [piano, compositions and arrangements] had been working intensely on the release tour of their A viagem de Villa-Lobos, an album entirely dedicated to the brazilian composer and maestro released under the SESC label. One of those concerts caught the attention of Jovino Santos Neto, a famous pianist from Rio and professor at the Cornish College of the Arts, in Seattle. Very well impressed, he made the invitation for a week-long artistic residency at the institution.

During that week they gave workshops, improvisation classes and engaged in several academic activities. To close that residency the sextet performed this set at the university's Poncho Concert Hall, a blend from the Villa-Lobos repertoire and the band's originals, like Labirinto, 339 and Tapete Mágico. The audience watched it with attention and surprise, after all, there was a dose of audacity in that performance.

Lucky for those who saw it... And now for everyone hearing it as well
